How to Use SVG Viewer

1

Paste SVG Code

Paste raw SVG markup into the editor panel. The tool accepts any valid SVG — icons, illustrations, logos, or full SVG documents with embedded styles.

2

View the Rendered SVG

The SVG renders in real-time in the preview panel as you type. You see exactly what the SVG looks like — colors, gradients, paths, and text all render correctly.

3

Inspect and Export

Review the rendered output. You can also see the SVG dimensions and copy the code. Use this to verify SVG files before using them in your projects or to quickly preview SVG icons from icon libraries.

Common SVG Issues

IssueFix
SVG blank/emptyCheck for xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" on root element
Wrong sizeSet viewBox attribute; remove fixed width/height if scaling is needed
Colors wrongCheck for fill="currentColor" — requires parent element text color
Text not showingEmbed fonts or convert text to paths before exporting from design tool

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it support all SVG features?

Yes — paths, circles, rects, ellipses, lines, polylines, polygons, text, gradients, patterns, clip paths, masks, and filters all render correctly. CSS embedded in style tags works. External references (images, fonts) may not load due to sandbox restrictions. For production testing of SVGs with external dependencies, open the SVG file directly in a browser tab.

Why is my SVG not rendering?

Common issues: missing xmlns attribute (must have xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"), invalid XML syntax (unclosed tags, mismatched quotes), or JavaScript-based animations that require script execution (blocked in sandboxed iframe). Check that your SVG starts with a valid root element and has proper namespace declarations.

Can I view animated SVGs?

CSS animations inside SVGs work. SMIL animations (animate, animateTransform elements) also work in most browsers. JavaScript-based animations don't work because the preview is sandboxed. If your SVG uses JavaScript for animation, open it directly in a browser for the full experience.

Is this tool useful for optimizing SVGs?

Viewing is the first step before optimizing. Preview the SVG to confirm it renders correctly, then use our SVG Optimizer to clean up markup (remove editor metadata, comments, unnecessary attributes) and SVG Minifier to compress it for production. The viewer lets you verify the optimized SVG still renders identically to the original.

Working with SVG Files

SVG is the standard format for vector graphics on the web. Unlike raster images (PNG, JPEG), SVGs are resolution-independent — they render crisply at any size. They're also text files, which means you can edit them directly, animate them with CSS, and style them dynamically.

Tips for Production SVG Use

  • Always run SVGs through an optimizer to remove editor metadata and unnecessary attributes
  • Use viewBox for responsive scaling rather than fixed width/height
  • For icons, consider using SVG sprites to reduce HTTP requests
  • Minify SVGs before production deployment to save bandwidth
